 Co.48 ATTENDS CAMPGROUND CARNIVAL

8/15/09 - Upper Frankford Twp. Fire Co. was invited by Dogwood Acres Campground to participate with their Community Day Carnival.  The day was full of family fun that included games, face painting, live music, auctions, and great food.  Proceeds from the event benefit the "Ronald McDonald House Charities".  Company 48 participated by taking Engine 148, Engine 248, QRS 48, and Utility 48 to the event. Children as well as the adults enjoyed the opportunity to experience the hands-on approach of being able to operate a handline, wear the bunker gear, sit in one of the big rigs, engage the siren, operate the hydraulic cutters and spreaders (some may call them the "Jaws of Life"), or even listen to their heartbeat with a stethoscope.  Others enjoyed seeing the apparatus up close and asking questions about the equipment that we carry.  It was a great opportunity to visit with our community and to give them a little sense as to what we do on calls when a 9-1-1 call goes out.  Our "Thanks" to Charles & Lucille Strub (owners of Dogwood Acres) for inviting us out for a fun day!
